Partnership / Membership

Within the framework of his activity the UCB Institute of Allergy favors cooperation with various allergy related organizations:

EAACI
(The European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology).
In the website targeted to health professionals, you will find an introduction of the EAACI, its organization and activities. A private area is dedicated to the EAACI members.

EFA
(The European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients' Associations).
You will find information on the aims, activities and organization of EFA on the website of this European patients’ organization. Comprehensive list of EFA information materials, as well as useful links to more information on allergy, asthma and COPD are also available.

GAČLEN
(Global Allergy and Asthma European Network).
In 2006, The UCB Institute of Allergy has been accepted as Collaborating Center in GAČLEN.
GAČLEN, a network of excellence in Allergy and Asthma, is currently funded by the European Commission for the 5th priority (Food Safety and Quality) of the 6th Framework Programme. The GAČLEN consortium consists of 25 leading European institutions in the field of allergy and asthma. Their research and education actions are reinforced by the active participation of 2 non-academic organisations: European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) and a patients' organisation (EFA). Recently, the network was extended to nearly 50 collaborating centers.
The objective of GAČLEN is to establish an internationally competitive network, to enhance the quality and relevance of research, address all aspects of the disease and eventually to decrease the burden of allergy and asthma throughout Europe.
In December 2006, the Council of Europe and the European Parliament have adopted the 7th framework programme (FP7). Frameworks programmes are the main financial tools through which the European Union supports research and development activities covering almost all scientific disciplines. Thanks to an active campaign from scientific societies, patients’ associations and to the first results generated by GAČLEN, respiratory diseases including those due to allergies are considered as major diseases in the FP7.
