As a pioneering allergy-watchdog organisation, The UCB Institute of Allergy continually keeps one eye on the present and the other keenly on the future. By studying current trends in the epidemiology of allergy as well as its future projections, IOA members became alarmingly aware that the incidence of allergies is increasing dramatically and that these conditions could afflict virtually every individual in a not-so-distant future.
Moreover, the lack of allergy knowledge in the general public often results in important yet avoidable suffering if the people would know what causes it.
Therefore IOA decided to complete its primary mission with an additional objective by dedicating more resources to target both allergic patients and the general public. The extended mission specifically seeks to improve allergy prevention and treatment by giving health professionals, patients and the public, continuous and up-to-date scientific information or education about allergies.
