What is allergy > Regulation of allergic reaction
Regulation of IgE
In the normal subject, IgE production is under physiological control. Nevertheless, this control mechanism can be put temporarily "out of service" by a viral infection (for example a rhinovirus, or by infectious mononucleosis). This process may explain the late onset of allergic symptoms in subjects who theoretically are not predisposed to develop an allergy.
