This section deals with treatment strategies to combat allergies. However, an essential part of treatment is avoidance of the allergen. The fight against allergens may turn out to be exhaustive, but the best way to fight allergies and their symptoms is to determine the causes and avoid them as best as you can.
In addition, desensitization or immunotherapy is the process of reducing the patient’s sensitivity to an allergen. Although this approach warrants the close supervision of patients by an allergy specialist, the treatment usually results in varying degrees of success.
Anti-allergic drugs such as anti-histamines and controller drugs such as corticosteroids are also indicated, depending upon the type and severity of the allergic attack.
