Latex: a viscous juice secreted by a tree in the Euphorbiaceous family, hevea brasiliensis, and used in industry as a material since the 19th century. Synthenthized by humans, this gum is used in the production of synthetic rubber.
Leukocyte: synonym for "white blood cell". A blood cell whose various components play a role in the body's defense mechanism. These Leukocytes include "polymorphonuclear" cells (neutrophils, basophils and eosinophils), "monocytes" (mononuclear) and lymphocytes.
Lymphocyte: a cell in the immune system
responsible for the body's reactions against antigens. There
are 2 main categories of lymphocytes: B lymphocytes, responsible
for the humeral immune response (through the antibodies), and
T lymphocytes, responsible for the cell immune response (cell
cooperation through chemical messengers and the elimination
of infected cells).
