Drug treatment in allergy
From the view point of drug treatment, allergy is considered as a range of conditions affecting various organs, each of which may require treatment with different drugs. The principles of treatment, however, are the same for all allergies, the drugs being classified into two groups:
  • Symptom Relieving Drugs: these drugs are primarily aimed at the relief of the acute symptoms produced during an allergic response
  • Anti-Inflammatory Drugs: these drugs are intended for the treatment of the underlying inflammation associated with an allergic reaction.
